Neyers Mourvedre Evangelho Vineyard
3 day lead-time required to confirm availability Why?
Mourvedre is widely planted in the south of France, particularly in the Provence region of Bandol. It's popular in the bistros of Paris for its exotic aromas and bold, rustic flavors. This version is made from grapes grown on own-rooted vines that are over 120 years old. The grapes, hand-farmed by Frank Evangelho and his crew, represent a rare insight into what was happening in California's vineyards in the late 19th century. The wine's color is dark, its perfume is exotic and spicy, and its flavors have an appealing complexity. The fruit of Mourvedre in Bandol is said to be part blueberry and part mulberry.
