The Furst family has made wine in the Franken region of Germany since 1638. This 37 acre estate is owned and managed by Paul and Monika Furst; their son Sebastian joined the team in 2007. Twenty seven acres are planted in the Centgrafenberg Vineyard on a south facing hill to soil composed of sandstone and loam. Seven acres are planted in the Karthauser Vineyard on a steep south facing slope of limestone and gravel. A three acre estate parcel in the Schlossberg Vineyard is planted to weathered red soil over sandstone. Spatburgunder/Pinot Noir (60%), Riesling (17%) and Pinot Blanc (15%) are the primary varieties, but Muller Thurgau and Silvaner are also grown. Pinot Noir is barrel aged with indigenous yeast and the white grapes are fermented in steel.
